About the artist
Görkem Can is a Turkish-born abstract visual artist based in Los Angeles. Her work is driven by a deep curiosity about existence, perception, and the unseen forces that shape human experience. Through abstraction, color, and texture, she explores emotional and psychological landscapes that often exist beyond language. Painting becomes a way for her to translate internal experiences into visual form, creating spaces for reflection, intuition, and connection. Her practice is influenced by questions surrounding time, identity, memory, and consciousness, as well as her background in media, digital design, and creative production. She is particularly interested in how abstraction can communicate emotions and sensations that cannot always be clearly explained. Görkem has exhibited internationally through solo and group exhibitions, including Scent Mentor Collection in Los Angeles and exhibitions in London and New York. Alongside her studio practice, she has also contributed to creative direction, set design, and visual development for fashion, music, and multimedia projects. She holds an MBA from Southern States University in Los Angeles, a Graduate Certificate in Business and Management of Entertainment from UCLA Extension, and a BA in Media and Communication from Izmir University of Economics. Her multicultural background and experiences continue to shape both the conceptual and emotional direction of her work.
